Successful bids for funding have enabled us to buy 15 laptops as well as pay for a teacher to provide a programme of lessons, which incorporates teaching English, whilst learning about UK life and culture as well as helping them improve their digital skills. The classes are always very popular as our students find the content really useful.
People are always really keen to learn and improve their English, which is obviously essential. It empowers them to communicate more effectively, helping them to become more independent and minimise the social isolation they often experience.
Regular attendance has also given our service users a sense of purpose and value, as well as giving the opportunity to meet new people and make friends which have resulted in them creating their own support network. This in turn, has also helped to build up their resilience, thus contributing to their mental, social and emotional well-being.
See Kirsten at one of the drop-ins or email her at k.leeuwangh@shareknowsley.org.uk for more information about how you can join the English classes.
